About US
We met the new-fashioned way: online.
A few emails about shared interests in July, 2012 eventually led to two 7-hr long dates in one weekend (one in Lewes, DE and one in Salisbury, MD). Ryan helped secure that second date by gifting Katie with a bottle of Pinot Grigio (her favorite) from a local winery (Bordeleau Winery, where we shot our engagement photos).
From that point on we spent every weekend together (the hour-long distance inhibited weekday dates). When Katie finished up her M.S. in Delaware she decided to pursue a M.A. in Teaching in Salisbury, MD, where Ryan works full-time as a teacher and graduate student of history. Now we're living together, working as teachers and excited to tie the knot!

How he proposed
Not too long after Katie moved to Salisbury, and two people's belongings were crammed into one apartment, Ryan started asking about rings. So it was no big surprise that the big question was coming. But the "when" remained a mystery.
July 4th 2014, nearly two years after we met, we went to visit Katie's parents at the Bogue family lake house in Virginia. After an evening firework-filled boat ride, Ryan suggested taking a walk. Katie was completely unsuspecting in her oversized zip-up sweatshirt with a can of beer while Ryan looked very nice in his pressed button-down with a glass of Cabernet.
We got engaged under a red-roofed gazebo with fireworks in the background. It wasn't determined until after-the-fact that, while Ryan did get down on one knee, Katie may not have waited long enough for him to ask the question.
She just jumped on him and said "YES!"
